Sir J.J. Fort Boys’ High School

Sir J.J. Fort Boys’ High School founded on 17th October, 1849 and Sir J.J. Girls’ School School founded in 1850 are recognized secondary schools under the Management of Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy Parsee Benevolent Institution. These comprise of six standards from Std. V to Std. X and prepare pupils for the Secondary School Certificate Examination.

The Institution was founded not for the sake of the wealthy but for the sake of the poor. This wish of the Founder has always been respected. It would be impossible to condense within the small scoop, the various activities of the schools of this noble institution. However, the main object of this institution has been to give a sound, liberal and practical education to the greatest number of the poor pupils of both sexes, which enables them to procure an honest and decent livelihood.

Our libraries are an exceptionally well-stocked store-house of knowledge which interest and instruct the student’s mind. The Laboratory and Science rooms are replete with the most up-to-date apparatus, equipment and appliances, necessary for the teaching of this indispensable subject. Particular stress is laid on both practical education in this subject though personal experiments by the pupils and also on the development of their power of observation.
Computer Literacy is a compulsory subject for the pupils of Std. V to Std. X. The school has invested in an up-to-date air-conditioned computer laboratory. Guiding / Scouting are optional subjects.

Mid-Day Meal, a concept that has recently been incorporated in aided schools, was started way back in 1908 by our institution. Charitable-minded donors of the Parsee community started Bhojan Fund to cater to the nutritional need of the pupils. This Fund was sufficient to feed a thousand pupils of both sexes of all the Bombay schools.
